Since 1990
Forty-three people, a rented gym, and a lot of faith.
In 1990, after receiving biblical counsel from several pastors, the Timothy W. Jackson family launched out in faith to start Community Baptist Church.
The first service was held in October 1990 at Waverly Middle School. Forty-three people came. The church was incorporated that November, and the charter was signed in December.
What began in a rented gym is now a church home on Mt. Hope Highway with a choir, a food pantry, missionaries on five continents, and a Wednesday night full of kids.

Why we exist
To make and mature disciples who are becoming more like the Lord Jesus Christ — through sound biblical preaching, evangelism, sacred music, prayer, and training believers to use their gifts for service.

- Today
Still here, still at it
Sixteen ministries, a mobile food pantry serving over a hundred families at a time, Master Club and Teen Hour every Wednesday, and a Car Show for Christ every May.

Still at it
A church that shows up.
Sixteen ministries have grown out of that first service in 1990 — prayer and soulwinning, music, youth programs, summer internships, bus ministry, camping, discipleship training, addiction recovery, food pantry services, and community outreach.
Missionary support started with one family headed to Brazil in 1991. Today Community Baptist supports families on five continents.
